The system identification problem deals with obtaining mathematical models from time series data. In this talk, we will focus on discrete-time linear input-state-output systems and devise an online experiment strategy to obtain its mathematical model from input-output data. What is interesting is that one can view the experiment design problem as a dynamical version of the mastermind game.
